John Florio (1553? - 1625)

Born in England of Italian Waldenses parents John Florio was a Professor of Italian and French in the University of Oxford. Among his works: a translation of Montaigne's essays into English, an Italian-English dictionary, and two conversation manuals "First Fruits" and " Second Fruits". Florio taught Italian to Queen Elizabeth I.
