The "Artemisia Gentileschi" State Technical School of Milan is the seat of the Teachers' Resources Center - Project "Languages 2000"

The school is named after

Artemisia Gentileschi , pictrix celebris

A celebrated woman painter

1593-1652

Artemisia wrote her own epitaph with a pun on her surname, Gentilesca, which also means gentil' esca 'a gentle bait', and another one on 'vedermi' (to see me) and 'vermi' (worms)

"I was in this earthbound world of gloom

For many a glancing heart a gentle bait;

Now that I lie inside a marble tomb

I've turned into the worms' gentle messmate."

(verse translation by Lamberto Bozzi)
